The Scheduling Dilemma
Specialist beauty professionals and Afro-textured hair salons frequently operate under chaotic booking workflows: disorganized direct messages, double-bookings across overlapping service durations, high no-show rates, and zero unified analytics into salon revenue.
To overcome these bottlenecks, we engineered KHS—an all-in-one salon management, automated booking, and client engagement platform designed to modernize beauty business operations from appointment request to payment settlement.

Multi-Tenant Architecture & Revenue Analytics
I engineered a secure multi-tenant architecture that provides salon owners with isolated business controls while equipping platform administrators with deep operational analytics.
The analytics engine visualizes platform revenue trends, active client growth, and categorical breakdown across hair, nail, spa, and beauty services—providing comprehensive business intelligence and financial transparency.

Concurrency Control & Booking Automation
To eliminate double-bookings across multi-chair salons, I implemented strict ACID transactional locking on appointment reservation pipelines, guaranteeing atomic slot claims during peak hours.
The platform automates appointment confirmations, reschedule requests, dispute handling, and client preferences, architected to reliably support an expansive ecosystem of over 50,000+ beauty professionals and 15,000+ active clients.

The Stack and Infrastructure
KHS is engineered to deliver zero-downtime booking reliability, strict data isolation, and low-latency scheduling. The client and administrative frontends are built on Next.js and deployed on Vercel, leveraging Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui to provide a fast, elegant, responsive interface. The backend is powered by Express.js paired with PostgreSQL, hosted on a production DigitalOcean droplet under my direct management. PostgreSQL was specifically chosen to enforce ACID compliance and strict relational integrity for overlapping appointment slots, architected to reliably handle scheduling and client data for a potential user base of 50,000+ beauty professionals.
